Bike tune up & Personal Self Care

I just finished fixing my bike: puncture repaired, brake blocks replaced, chain cleaned and oiled, mudguards realigned etc took about 1 hour..  I wondered what took me so long to do this?  The result is a bike that rides easily, no scraping or chaffing.  Not the same bike as when it was new, but a smooth safe ride.

I did a 30-minute Qi Gong practice earlier and wandered around the garden with my tea, looking at what was growing.  Really taking in the shapes, patterns, smells, colours, and observing external change in the seasons.

I thought about bodies and lives, as we age and change, get ill, and recover or get run down. How we may need to adjust, slow down, change tack. The bike maintenance  is not really different from looking after ourselves and creating habits of health.

I have been a student at various classes during my break from teaching as I plan next term's.  From the students' side of things, it has been good to be held by someone else and to notice what I like or not, to refine and revisit what I am offering. Physical movement is a necessity for hormones, to calm my busy mind, bring better sleep and general balance to feel well.

What do you need to feel well in your life, in body, mind and spirit?

Classes begin next week if I am part of your self care plan, with a term bursting with good stuff for spring.

Come and join us if you can, booking here x Nicola
