Equanimity and freedom
The philisophy portion of last weeks class explored our relationship to our thoughts... this can be negative, judgemental, positive, blinded, tricked.... This over attachment and believing of thoughts can lead us into emotionally and mental troubled waters. Equanimity is not indifference or not caring, it is a space of gentle holding and observing - where we separate from our thoughts enough to percieve our thoughts more clearly and objectively and in a more detached w

Slow Medicine
I have been trying to rid myself of a lingering end of a summer cold for 3 weeks. I thought it would clear up on its own but my energy has been a bit low and there's a few annoying and niggling low grade symptoms. We often look for the quick fix, the fast medicine to get better swiftly, so we can get on and keep going, to not have to care for ourselves too much. Finally that little bit of unwell has made me stop and turn towards myself and practice the slow medicine th

Yellow, Earth, Release
Dear Yogi's Looking forward to welcoming you tomorrow, we got off to a beautiful supported yet strengthening start to Autumn term, it was a very fun and different session. Tailoring our practice as we slowly and deeply turn with the sun into the 5th season of the year...late summer early autumn. Let's go deeper into this wisdom respectfully borrowed from Traditional Chinese Medicine and the art of yin yoga that helps us navigate the seasons with curiosity and additional no

The fifth season is now, you may feel weird...
Hi All This message may bring some awareness to this time of year.. People often feel really strange, with appetite and digestion issues, hair and sleep loss, energy dropping and choppy...dry skin.. weariness. Our culture suggests we can go on and on with unchanged vigour and striving, like we are a well that refills endlessly and samely. Only late summer can really have its own say on things. I tailor my wellbeing offerings to support the constant change and align us to th

Change for all reasons
What we need at different times in our lives changes endlessly. Think back to a few weeks ago when it was incredibly hot and stuffy...hard to sleep, eat or do to much of anything. Or 10 years ago when life had a different rythmn and set of needs. Turns out change is the only constant, whether that's slowly or quickly all at once. Our ability to go traverse change rather than fight it or reject it is a super power. I had a quiet time this summer, with minimal classes and

Putting your self first
Do you find it hard to carve out the space for your own needs, and especially for rest, not sleep, but rest.. You are not alone and society does not invite it... When I had young kids, I was constantly on the go and it was really hard to get to a yoga class and even harder to permit myself to rest. When I did get to bed I would often be so overstimulated that I could not sleep. Caring for my elderly parents recently I noticed the changes that have come about and although it

Bike tune up & Personal Self Care
I just finished fixing my bike: puncture repaired, brake blocks replaced, chain cleaned and oiled, mudguards realigned etc took about 1 hour.. I wondered what took me so long to do this? The result is a bike that rides easily, no scraping or chaffing. Not the same bike as when it was new, but a smooth safe ride. I did a 30-minute Qi Gong practice earlier and wandered around the garden with my tea, looking at what was growing. Really taking in the shapes, patterns, smel

What sustains you, what fills you?
It might be a little different for us all, but if you are reading this then its likely that movement, breath and nature are in your reply. I have been away in nature taking capturing life at Cae Mabon retreat centre in North Wales and practising yoga and qigong in nature, looking and feeling closely the effects of being in nature and away from technology and to an extent modernity. Looking forward to opening the doors next week for this early summer term of nourishment and

And so we begin yoga in 2026
Happiest and healthiest New Year to you all. I hope that you had a great break and feel refreshed as we welcome the lightening days. It was an absolute pleasure to teach two special events for the Winter Solstice and New Years Eve. Wild Box was a treat to teach in and I aim to bring more specials there in 2026. This week I have been putting all the pieces in place, letting the dust and glitter settle from last year and preparing for this years offerings. When I am not tea

New Years Eve at The Wild Box
Hey all Wishing you well this day the one after boxing day. I hope that you are resting a decompressing slow but sure. Today I treasured a quiet long solo practice of asana, pranayama and meditation with rest at the end. Later the gym and hot sauna all great and mainly the time to let myself be with no requirement to engage. A by product of this time of year its like its in our bones to sort, clean and get rid of, to reflect and consider what we need and dont need. Clear

Winter Solstice wishes
We are here. The shortest day and longest night. Tomorrow the days begin to lengthen. Following nature, its patterns and rhythms brings us into alignment and harmony with what is. Today we will watch the sun go down and honour this apex with a symbolic practice that observes the light (active), the dark (stillness) and harmonises with Yoga Nidra that brings rest in community . If you would like to join us there are a few places left. For mind, body and soul. Bedminster Quaker
